Music You Should Know!

Fall is always full of big music releases - after the heat and fun of the summer, new music is kind of refreshing. While it's not fall yet thank you - some great records have come out this week and more will continue to drop as the weeks go on.

My most anticipated record for this season was David Guetta's "One Love" which came out yesterday. He released the first single from this record back in late May. It was "When Love Takes Over" - needless to say the track featuring Kelly Rowland (Destiny's Child) has been the gay anthem of the summer - heard numerous times at parties, clubs, beaches, you name it! In July came "Sexy Bitch" featuring Akon and in the subsequent weeks leading up to it's release, the label put out a album track a week on iTunes for the masses to savor. David enjoyed big success last year with the track "Love Is Gone" which featured Chris Willis on vocals. Chris is back again for a couple of tracks on David's album - one of which will be a future single for sure. My favorite track of this record aside from the first single with Kelly is the title track "One Love" which features Estelle who is best known for her huge smash debut single in 2008 "American Boy". Other guest vocalists on this great record are Will.i.am, Novel, and Kid Cudi.

Another cool record came out yesterday - one that was a bit of a surprise to me as I was checking out the new release wall at work; Rhythms Del Mundo "Classics". I knew of a disc they did a few years ago which was also full of great artists doing "Latin inspired" acoustic versions of their hits such as Dido, U2 and Coldplay. This time around they got even more fantastic artists to contribute covers of classic rock songs to this compilation all with that Latin twist. The Killers, Rolling Stones, Amy Winehouse, One Republic, Keane and Cat Power to name a few have all contributed some interesting and fresh tracks which take you on a quick journey to South America even if it's just for an afternoon. As an added bonus - it's a benefit album to assist with Disaster Relief and with the success of the first album they have been able to fund over 170 charity projects already. There's more details on their website for those who are interested.

Another upcoming release to be excited about is Nelly Furtado's new disc "Mi Plan" which comes out September 15th. What's unique about this release is that it's a spanish album. For a taste check out the second single "Manos Al Aire” - it's so sexy and addictive. For those who like a dance beat, the remixes are out on iTunes already.

There's another big release in September from this girl from Michigan who's an up and comer. It's called "Celebration" and is a two disc set of some the best pop music in the world. There is also a 2 DVD set of all her videos, she's been known to be a bit controversial and these videos certainly demonstrate that. The celebration begins September 29th... For those who like to get the party started a little earlier the single is out on iTunes and so are most of the mixes...

Now for something completely different... Last week I went to a friend's 30th birthday thing. I kinda knew of what to expect, but not really. See it was at this tiny bar out on Queen W. called "The Sixth" and it was going to be a night of bluegrass music. I like me some bluegrass from time to time so I thought it would be fun. Fun? It was such a fantastic experience - one I won't forget any time soon. The event was called Train 45 and it had 3 different local bluegrass trios perform. Throw in some cold beer, a little dance floor action and some great company, definitely worth checking out again some time. I felt inspired to pick up a bluegrass compilation at work the next day. It's called "Essential Bluegrass Anthology" - it features 50 original recordings from the best bluegrass artists ever. Worth picking up if you're in the mood for something different.

That's all for now - go get inspired!
