Jann & Me

Low and behold it happened again. The first time I doubted myself that it was really her but alas I was proven right when it happened for the second time just the other day. Back in the fall I went down to the gym in my building like I normally do 4 times a week and there was this oddly familiar face on the exercise bike - I was like "Is that Jann Arden?" She must have thought who the fuck is this guy staring at me. Although I suppose when you are a celebrity (even if only in Canada) you must get used to people staring at you. Anyway I was totally convinced it was her when I said "Hello/ how's it going?" and she replied "good, you?". Her voice gave her away. What threw me for a loop was that about 4 days later she came into my store to buy a few copies of her record that was just released. In fact she filmed the whole thing for her website. So of course I was all confident when I said to her that I saw her at my gym the other day - little did I know she would deny it and make me doubt what happened. So fast forward to the other day when I strolled down to my gym to do my usual workout and boom there she is again on the bike. I knew she had 4 shows at Massey Hall which is only across the street from where I live. Clearly she likes to stay in the hotel attached to my condo when she's in Toronto. I decided to pop out one of my ear buds to listen in on the conversation as she had a few people with her and I wanted I to hear something that would validate that it was her. Sure enough they started talking about tour dates, a book she's trying to and something about song structure. I knew I wasn't crazy... I adore her - she's so cute and kind of like the aunt you wish you'd always have. She is funny as hell - you have to check out her show some time...

A friend of mine sent me the link to the video she did at my store - I didn't realize I was actually in it. Go figure! It's a cute clip - actually there's two because she didn't have the PIN for her credit card. (We've all been there...) Take a look at the website below.

Ted DiBiase @ 333

My WWE moment...

My mother could tell you just how much of a crazy WWF fan I was when I was younger. It's been so long they changed the name to WWE! It started after watching a few "Saturday Night's Main Event"'s when I was around 8 or 9... then came the action figures, the ring, the music, the video games... it all happened really fast over the course of about 2 years. I must have had every WWF magazine from May of '89 to when I drifted away in the spring of '94. When you are young it's easy to become obsessed with things. WWE was definitely one of my obsessions. I remember having a afternoon paper route when I was 12 and I made up some excuse about Saturday piano lessons to the driver who dropped off my papers just so that he would get them to me earlier. I did this of course so I could get them all delivered and be home in time to watch WWE at 3pm. When my Mom found out about that - she was none to pleased. I had to do what I had to do!

Anyway the point of this post it to share a really great experience I had with WWE Superstar Ted DiBiase at an event at my store. For those of you who might remember his father was "The Million Dollar Man" back in the day. Ted was amazing - so down to earth, friendly, funny, engaged... I wish I could experience the whole event all over again. Fun little southern accent, super hot body and no attitude at all. (gay men take note). He was doing an in-store to promote a movie he starred in called "Marine 2". The crowds were big but very well behaved, he took the time to talk to as many fans as he could and signed just about anything they asked him to. (Something he didn't have to do). All in all it was a very successful event and for sure one I will remember for a very long time.
